About Jasmine
I feel I should start by explaining my feelings about buying a pet from a pet store.
There are so many pets out there on the streets and in shelters that I think it's
important to look there first and rescue an animal verses buying one from a pet store
that probably came from a puppy mill. We rescued both of our dogs and they are wonderful
dogs! We couldn't have bought better dogs. (My point of the following is to demonstrate
that if you decide to rescue a pet instead of buy a pet it can be a very rewarding experience)
Jasmine is our second (and latest) rescue. Jasmine or "Jazzy Mae" is a Catahoula/Black Lab mix. She is a
combination of the best features of both breeds! She was rescued from a house that had multiple
dogs, all were starving and days from death. The shelter did an excellent job of fattening her up
so she looked pretty good when we took her in. Her hair was not great but has since grown in completely
and is very pretty. She had to have several teeth removed because they were damaged, possibly from eating
things that weren't meant to be food (like rocks) and poor nutrition. Amazingly she has adapted and eats normal food without any problem at all.
She is a very good girl. In spite of her past she has no fear of people. She is very gentle and loving. She doesn't show any food aggression at all which we find
surprising because she was starving at one point. Jasmine was a very easy adoption
because she is so easy going. She gets along very well with our other dog, Sadie. She has taught Sadie a lot. Jasmine is very motherly and Sadie is 2 and a half years younger so Jasmine took her under her wing. Jasmine is a little love bug!
